Sometimes if your balance is actually at or below $0 this mesage happens.

Can you email hi@kilocode.ai with your Kilo email address and we'll get you sorted.

The option TOP UP NOW, costs 20 dollars, but there is something that is not clear to me. That payment is monthly, annual or for life

The top up is always a one time fee - no subscriptions - and then we just charge that balance based on the AI models you use at the cost of those providers.

If people have been using grok free for their work stuff then it will have been training from it. This email will likely get a lot of people fired if they have been using it on commercially sensitive codebases. So maybe frame it in terms of ‘using it on my personal projects’. Which is what hopefully people have been doing. And plus this email says to a boss ‘wow I can sack ten of your colleagues if you can do 100x’. I mean - this is one of the most thoughtless posts I have seen in a while. Might even get you into trouble. I’d suggest retracting it. Love the product. Not so much the recklessness.

I would hope that everyone would follow their company's policy on AI before using any new tool. And in that sense, this post could apply to any AI model you're using in your day-to-day - even if those are "approved" by your company.

I also disagree with the assertion that THIS will be the thing that makes a manager think, "Oh AI can replace people." I would assert that managers are _already_ thinking that, and bringing to their attention how AI and humans can work together to get more done would actually have a "reality" impact on their thinking. Bad managers won't be emboldened any more by this email than they already are from the hype cycle in the media, but good managers will be able to see how they can embrace AI as a tool rather than a replacement for people.

I don't think developers will be replaced by AI, but I do think a developer using AI will replace one who isn't. So if you're using AI today, your company should be paying for it.

But this is different - kilocode has been encouraging people to use the tool for free. If people have been doing so and then go to their managers with you letter having tried it for free and boosting their productivity in their work environment using it, as your post seems to be recommending, without having checked with their boss first - which is implied because otherwise this letter would not be necessary - then their boss would be reasonable to question that activity. Do you not see this? I mean I hope people have not been using it in the way you are suggesting without having checked with someone first: but your post implies that’s ok. Run it past your colleagues. See if anyone else can see the post might be implying this. I get that these things start from grass roots. But show it through the amazing progress you’ve made on an open source product or your side hustle and how this could translate to your main work. I think maybe start-ups sometimes forget a large proportion of people work in the corporate world where there are rules and governance they need to be mindful of. Just could have been a lot better worded. I am thinking of kilocode’s reputation here as well. It’s a great project which should be supported by responsible evangelism as well as grass roots support.
